What Are Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the final set of molars at the back of the mouth. Most people have four—two in the upper jaw and two in the lower—typically emerging between ages 16 and 25.

They may fully erupt, partially emerge, or fail to develop properly. When there is not enough space, they can become impacted—trapped beneath the gum or bone—and may need expert removal.

Early diagnosis and expert removal at The QDC help prevent these complications.

Clinical Guidance

Why Extraction May Be Necessary

Impacted teeth lack room to erupt properly—a common issue. Impaction, crowding, infection, decay, or rare cysts and tumors may necessitate removal.

Impaction

Wisdom teeth often lack room to erupt properly and may stay trapped under the gum or bone.

Crowding

Impacted third molars can push neighboring teeth, contributing to crowding and misalignment.

Infection & Decay

Partially erupted teeth trap food and bacteria, raising the risk of gum infection and cavities.

Cysts & Tumors

Rare but severe complications affecting the jawbone and nearby teeth.

Symptoms & Signs

Common Wisdom Teeth Problems

Wisdom teeth may cause more than local tooth pain. Watch for these warning signs.

Clinical Overview

Wisdom Tooth Impaction

Common positions and how they may appear clinically. Impacted wisdom teeth may stay trapped under the gum, grow at an angle, or only partly appear.

01

Horizontal Impaction

The tooth is lying flat and pushing against the tooth in front.

02

Vertical Impaction

The tooth is trapped in an upright position under the gum.

03

Mesioangular Impaction

The tooth is tilted forward toward the neighbouring molar.

04

Distoangular Impaction

The tooth is tilted backward, toward the rear of the jaw.

Understanding the Condition

What is PRF?

PRF is a healing material prepared from a small sample of the patient's own blood.

Why may PRF be placed after removal?

It may support natural healing and early tissue recovery.

Does every patient need PRF?

No. It is used when Dr. Saeed considers it beneficial.

Does PRF completely prevent pain or infection?

No. It supports healing but cannot guarantee a complication-free recovery.

Will I always need antibiotics?

No. Antibiotics are prescribed only when clinically required.

Expert Surgical Setup — carefully planned treatment with minimal trauma.
